Chris goes on Safari with Julian...













...and learns which plants are edible, and which are going to make you blow up like the Elephant Man...

(I think this one was the latter...I forget...which is why Julian does the teaching and not me...)

Lots of cameras equals lots of pictures, and believe me, there where a LOT of pictures taken that day...

Here you can say Alex being held captive by 2 of his cousins - Kelly and Jamie...in the foreground is the boys birthday cake...it was very nice too...

Saturday June 23rd - The lads are ONE today!!
Maxine and I cannot believe that a whole YEAR has passed. It seems like no time at all since we first brought two tiny, screaming babies home from the hospital, put them in their moses baskets and asked each other "right, what do we do NOW?!"...

Instead, we have 2 bouncing, extremely lively lads who look set to take the world by storm...and in Chris's case, give it a good kick...



Lots of cards...this was just the first batch! The boys ended up with literally dozens of cards...some came from as far afield as the USA (thanks Ric and Gwen!)











The boys played nicely with a new friend...see, they let her use the drumstick!













Just some of the 30 or so guests that came to the boys birthday party...6 children, 1 additional baby and LOTS of adults to try and control things!

Christian on the CD shelf...
We had to remove all the CD's because they where clearly a baby-magnet...now unfortunately, so is the empty shelf they once sat on!

Christian can climb into the shelf-space easily...he can't get out though, so tends to start screaming for help!

Alex Likes Blackberries...
As you can probably guess from the picture, Alex rather likes Blackberries...

How many babies can you fit on a shelf?
Like that old student trick "how many people can you get in a Mini", the lads decided they'd see how many babies could fit on a book shelf...

The answer? Well, two of course...

Scratch one TV Guide...
Unfortunately, the lads got hold of the TV Guide...just a day after we got it, so we had no clue what was on TV for whole WEEK!

This is Julian...
Here's Julian, he's an old friend of mine, and a pseudo-Uncle to the lads...

He's the creator of the blog known as "The Perambulations of Barkfoot" which chronicles his day to day adventures. and is written in his usual crazy style.

Julian decided to do something very special for the lads first birthday which is on the 23rd June.

He decided to plant an Ash tree which will hopefully be left alone by any developers and will grow, thrive and could even provide a place for the lads to climb later in life.

Julian describes it as a Common Ash. He grew it from seed!

Julian also carved their name in a plaque and hand-carved a memento to go along with the tree...

He's going to be a great Uncle to the lads...I just hope he can keep up with them!!

Chris eats the table...
Now, this is NOT because he was particularly hungry...personally I think he is sharpening his fangs.

In actual fact, the outcome was irreperable damage to the table - plenty of baby-tooth sized marks on our lovely furniture :(

I am not sure what Chris is really thinking about here, it could "mmm, this finger is tasty", or "I wonder if I should start walking yet!"...

I think it's the latter...

Here Alex was on his way to grab the camera off me, just before he did I got a cheeky smile out of him and snapped this pic...

Alex & a Screwdriver...
Here's little Alex with a screwdriver - it's part of a set of 3 tools that also include a hammer and a spanner.

As you might be able to imagine, these 3 items are NOT used for building...they are used for destroying...they are regularly used as weapons, and also as mallets - to hit furniture.

Many's the time when all you can here in the house is the sound of hammering, sadly, it's not Bob The Builder!

Unfortunately Alex has discovered that he has teeth...and he wants to use them.

So far, he has bitten both Maxine and myself...and now Chris...the evidence is here in the picture for all to see...

We're not sure, but are hoping he's not turning into a vampire...

Here, the lads try some finger foods...we're not sure we've got this right, but we think we have...

Chris on the new truck
It looks like he's kind of mad...but I think he just wants Alex out of his way...either that or Alex has just pulled him over and given him a ticket for bad driving!

The lads get to wear shorts and t-shirts for the first time...

And I think they enjoyed it!
